Benson Simmonds is a completely self-taught painter, having begun painting in New York, 10 years ago. His original works hang in private and corporate collections in New York and Los Angeles, as well as Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Europe. Devoid of intellectual analysis, Benson's works are completely emotionally inspired, and represent a visceral and sensual expression of the emotional spectrum through line, form and color. As one well-known Vancouver artist remarked, "Because of Benson's lack of formal training, he tends to break the rules in bold, fresh and exciting new ways."
